MINI BUÑUELOS WITH HONEY CREMA

Give the gift of homemade treats this holiday season! Nothing feels more personal than our cacique mini bunuelos made with love (and lots of cinnamon & sugar). If crunchy, sweet buñuelos aren’t enough to get your mouth watering, we’ve also added a honey crema sauce perfect for dipping or drizzling. Don’t forget to save some to leave out for Santa too!
WHAT YOU NEED
- 1 CUP CACIQUE® CREMA MEXICANA
- 1 CUP SUGAR
- 1 TEASPOON GROUND CINNAMON
- ¼ TEASPOON GROUND NUTMEG
- 6 (8-INCH) FLOUR TORTILLAS OR 24 FLOUR STREET TACO SIZE
- CANOLA OR SUNFLOWER OIL FOR FRYING
- ¼ CUP HONEY
- 4 SMALL JARS
- 4 CLEAR PLASTIC GIFT BAGS (YOU CAN FIND AT A CRAFT STORE)
HOW TO MAKE IT
- IF YOU ARE USING 8 INCH TORTILLAS USE A SMALL CUP OR A 3 INCH ROUND COOKIE CUTTER TO CUT 4 SMALL CIRCLES OUT OF EACH TORTILLA.
- HEAT 1-INCH OF COOKING OIL IN SKILLET AND FRY ONE TORTILLA AT A TIME UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN ON EACH SIDE. DRAIN ON PAPER TOWELS.
- COMBINE SUGAR, CINNAMON AND NUTMEG IN A LARGE BOWL OR A LARGE PLASTIC FREEZER BAG
- COMPLETELY OR PLACE THEM IN THE CINNAMON MIXTURE FILLED FREEZER BAG AND SHAKE LIGHTLY TO COAT.
- IN A SMALL SAUCEPAN, WARM HONEY ON LOW UNTIL EASILY STIRRED, BUT NOT LIQUIDY. ADD CREMA MEXICANA, STIR UNTIL COMBINED THEN REMOVE FROM HEAT.
- STACK 6 MINI BUÑUELOS IN EACH OF THE PLASTIC GIFT BAGS AND TIE WITH RIBBON. PLACE ABOUT A 1/4 CUP OF HONEY CREMA IN THE SMALL JARS AND DECORATE THE JAR HOWEVER YOU LIKE. NOW YOU ARE READY TO GIFT YOUR MINI BUÑUELOS & HONEY CREMA!
